Tua Pek Kong Temple, Sibu is the oldest Chinese temple in Sibu, Sarawak, with its history tracing back to the 1850s. Located in the town centre, the temple serves as an important Taoist place of worship as well as a cultural and historical landmark that reflects the heritage of the local Chinese community.

The temple complex showcases traditional Chinese architectural design, featuring intricate roof carvings, decorative motifs, and a distinctive seven-storey pagoda dedicated to the Goddess of Mercy, Guanyin (Kuan Yin). Constructed in the late 1980s, the pagoda has become an iconic structure in Sibu, offering a scenic view of the Rajang River and surrounding town area.

Throughout its long history, the temple has endured significant events in Sibu’s development, including the devastating town fire of 1928, during which the temple reportedly remained unharmed. This historical account is often regarded by locals as a symbol of spiritual protection and resilience.

Today, the temple continues to function as both a religious and cultural centre. Visitors come to pray for prosperity and protection to the deity Tua Pek Kong, who is widely worshipped in Chinese folk belief. The temple is also a popular destination for cultural tourism, especially during major celebrations such as Chinese New Year and Chap Goh Mei, when traditional performances, lion dances, and community activities are held.
