Often referred to as Sarawak’s “Jurassic World” landscape, the Bengoh Dam area is renowned for its pristine rainforest scenery and natural attractions. The region is home to several popular waterfalls, including Susung Waterfall, Curtain Waterfall (also locally known as Pe’an Waterfall), Pe’an Waterfall, and Koring Waterfall.

Among these, tourism hiking packages commonly focus on visiting Susung Waterfall and Curtain (Pe’an) Waterfall. Access to these waterfalls typically requires a boat transfer followed by a trekking journey.
Most tours begin with approximately a 20-minute boat ride from the jetty area, followed by a 1 to 1.5-hour jungle trek to reach the waterfall sites. Some sections of the trail may involve crossing bamboo bridges, adding to the authentic rainforest adventure experience.

Visitors are strongly advised to engage local guides or authorised boat operators to ensure safety, proper navigation, and a smoother hiking journey.
For travellers who prefer a bird’s-eye panoramic view of Bengoh Dam, hiking to Kampung Sting is highly recommended. This highland village serves as one of the best vantage points overlooking the reservoir and surrounding rainforest hills.

The trek to Kampung Sting is part of the Bengoh highland hiking route. Due to the rural terrain and navigation challenges, visitors are encouraged to hike with local guides for safety.
From the elevated highland area, hikers can enjoy breathtaking “Jurassic Park-like” scenery featuring mist-covered mountains, deep valleys, and vast water landscapes.

The viewpoint is particularly spectacular during early morning hours when mist often blankets the dam, creating a peaceful and cinematic natural atmosphere.
