Bintulu located along the central coast of Sarawak on the island of Borneo is a dynamic coastal town known for its industrial strength, multicultural heritage, and access to beautiful natural attractions. Strategically positioned, Bintulu lies approximately 610km northeast of Kuching, 216km northeast of Sibu, and 200km southwest of Miri.


Bintulu is internationally recognised as the home of the Malaysia LNG complex, one of the world’s major liquefied natural gas production facilities. Operated by Malaysia’s national oil and gas corporation, Petronas, the facility houses multiple LNG processing trains and has positioned Bintulu as a vital player in the global energy market.
Supporting this industrial growth is the Bintulu Port Authority, established in 1981, with operations beginning in 1983 at Tanjung Kidurong. The port is one of Malaysia’s busiest deep-water ports and a cornerstone of the region’s export economy.

Bintulu is also home to the internationally recognised Borneo International Kite Festival, held annually and attracting kite enthusiasts from around the world. The event fills the skies with vibrant colours and showcases impressive kite designs, making it one of the town’s most anticipated celebrations.
