Hainan Story founded in 2022 by a passionate local from Kuching was created to celebrate and share the authentic flavors of Hainanese cuisine. With ancestral roots tracing back to Wenchang, the founder drew inspiration from cherished family traditions—especially her grandfather’s signature Hainanese chicken rice.
A memorable visit to a traditional Hainanese restaurant further inspired her to bring these timeless flavors to a wider audience. This vision led to the creation of Hainan Story, a dining concept that blends heritage recipes with the vibrant food culture of Sarawak.
At Hainan Story, guests can enjoy classic Hainanese specialties alongside beloved local favorites such as Sarawak Laksa, Kaya Toast, and Kolo Mee. Each dish reflects a harmonious combination of traditional flavors and local influences, creating a unique culinary experience.
Today, Hainan Story operates three outlets across Kuching, located at Saradise, Aiman 2, and Metrocity Matang. The Metrocity Matang outlet is Halal certified, making it accessible to a wider community of diners.
